lyrics
John Prine said
He wrote his songs with his smile,
feels like being afraid for a while,
While the thunder rolls in.
And I’ve been listening,
Watching that dog under the shed.
Saw the terror in his eyes as the light filled up the skies,
And then I watched, it fled, with the laughter of a friend.
Prayer works quick,
It does the trick.
Me, I need a song,
Do you need one too?
Could be good for you,
Just to say the truth,
When no one’s there
to listen.
John Prine said,
He wrote his songs with his smile,
Feels like being afraid for a while,
While the thunder rolls in.
I won’t paint like Monet
But I will paint again someday,
Where that laughter’s been,
& how it helped me when,
Nothing else,
quite did.
A revelatory blend of ambient and folk, some tracks one or the other, some a blend more one way than the other and vice versa. Well written lyrics and beautiful singing in addition and instrumentals as well. A more-fully realized vision of previous releases with so much headroom leaving you confident what's in the future shall evolve further and equally leave the senses enraptured. Anthony Childs
