Dark Alleys
04:52
|
|||
We get lost and think of the other,
And it gets better there,
Filling time’s like filling cupboards-
The sky was gray and bare.
You know I’d walk down dark alleys
You know I’d walk down dark alleys
To be that morning fair
You know I don’t care for the dark blue cover that hangs over the garden,
And I’ll be Winter's older brother “please take out the garbage”,
I’ll be Summer’s only sister,
Sing to my youth how I missed it,
And braid her golden hair.
You know I’d walk down dark alleys
You know I’d walk down dark alleys
To see the morning fair
The field was dressed in robins,
How could I have forgotten?
All that time’s been wasted
On praying for more patience
You know I’d walk down dark alleys
You know I’d walk down dark alleys
You know I’d walk down dark alleys
To see the morning fair.

From this Shelter
05:24
|
|||
Rain like a whistle
Rain like a signal
Magnolia singing through a crescent moon
Then singing on through the shelter of a song.
It’s just love I couldn’t possibly erase,
from this shelter, from this place,
From this shelter, from this place.
It’s just love I couldn’t possibly erase,
From this shelter, from this plane
From this shelter, from this plane.
Then, my heart-
It felt just like a heavy balloon,
And they tell you all your life “search for that infinite sound”.
When no one else is around,
You hear it too,
in the shelter of a song.
It’s just love I couldn’t possibly erase,
From this shelter from this place.
From this shelter from this place.
It’s just love I couldn’t possibly erase,
From this shelter from this plane.
From this shelter from this plane.

The Sun, a Wolf
04:17
|
|||
Burn the day away July,
Throw it in the backwoods pile.
Leaves of green and grass of hay,
Remember how it made you smile.
And I hope it stays a while.
Today I am a runner wild,
Lungs a lavender textile,
The sun a wolf upon my back,
That’s singing to a tiny moon you’re throwing as it’s barking past,
then rolling in the fresh cut grass.
A tiny moon upon my wrist,
A quarter past,
And I forgive.
The Forever that I know is a good feeling,
But you never know, sometimes I can’t even explain what I’m perceiving.
Burn the day away July,
Throw it in the backwoods pile,
Leaves of green and grass of hay,
Remember how it made you smile.
And I hope it stays a while.

Red Leaves
06:27
|
|||
Some love can only be found.
Some love can only be found,
In that hushed-up town, where we drove around love.
Like the breeze hummin’,
That the flowers can’t be found,
We knew winter was coming, we knew it’d be back around.
I was waking for the Willows,
Breaking with the breeze,
Watching the fog roll over the hill and lift up the red leaves.
I was waiting for the geese to fly me South,
But the fire never ceased-
Nothing put it out.
I was waking for the Willows,
I was breaking with the breeze,
I was watching the fog roll over the hill and lift up the red leaves.
I was waiting for the geese to fly me South,
But the fire never ceased-
Nothing put it out.

Saddle Life
04:45
|
|||
Wake up it’s morning in the saddle life
Blue mountains reflected in your eyes
Changing who I was, was like a drug,
Cowboy who is drunk on a forgotten love.
Cowboy who is drunk on forgotten love
And images make for a clearer picture-satellite
But I can’t shake the site of death and taxes,
And blue paint on the side of a gray building.
Cowboy who is drunk on forgotten love,
Wake up, it’s morning in the saddle life.
Images make for a clearer picture satellite.
Can’t shake the site of death and taxes,
Unless I'm high up on that mountain.
Blue paint on the side of a gray building,
Cowboy who is drunk on forgotten love.
Wake up it’s morning in the

I Am Handed Roses
05:39
|
|||
Seeking light,
A fragile thing,
I’m like a plant or a tree,
you didn’t know me,
you didn’t show me anything.
The way I wore that ring,
Like it was a part of me,
A glistening of everything,
Or a piece of gold?
Invisible I’m told
Invisible I’m told
The things that I now hold,
That I will never speak.
We were so young, I didn’t know that it was possible,
To break the light inside yourself
And carry on in that dark house.
Don’t take the light upon yourself
And carry on in that dark house.
The way light shined us then,
I think about it now and then,
The way the night fell on us next-
I am handed roses overgrown.
I am handed roses overgrown
I am handed roses overgrown
I am handed roses overgrown.
I am handed roses overgrown.
I am handed roses overgrown.

The Aquarium
06:56
|
|||
Strange to see the aquarium,
lit by night,
Inside the aquarium.
Is loneliness this- auditorium?
Does one seek bliss
and one seek more of it?
Do you hear the waves breaking the glass?
Or do you hear the waves breaking the shore at-last,
Do you hear the waves breaking the shore at-last?
Is loneliness this auditorium,
Does one seek bliss- and one seek
more of it?
Do you hear the waves breaking the glass?
Or do you hear the waves breaking the shore at-last,
Do you hear the waves breaking the shore at-last?

Not Ours
05:27
|
|||
We watched the wild geese walk across the apple farm,
Science now deems,
That everything is like a curtain
falling down.
The animals they read our dreams,
See how we hold our wars above.
This world is not ours.
The train at night
The only light
The moon, the stars, by cable cars.
This world is not ours.
We watched the wild geese walk across the apple farm.
